Pinsa Romana
Origins and the main features

What is Pinsa Romana?
Pinsa Romana is a gastronomic product very similar to pizza, both in name and consumption mode, but it differs considerably in its preparation and texture.
The name “pinsa” derives from the Latin – “pinsere” – which literally means to stretch/extend. In fact, one of the characteristics that differentiates it from traditional pizza is its oval or rectangular shape.
Pinsa Romana as we know it today, thanks to modern ingredients and preparation techniques, is an evoque of the original recipe, dated back to ancient Rome.
Pinsa Romana was born from the recipe which draws inspiration from an ancient product associated with the peasant populations outside the city walls, who, by grinding grains (millet, barley, and spelt) and adding salt and aromatic herbs, baked these flatbreads or focaccias.

Pinsa Romana as we know it today
Our Pinsa Romana is the result of both scientific research and the teachings of Corrado Di Marco’s grandfather, founder of the homonymous company we collaborate with to create the Pinsa Romana bases.
This passion for baking has led Corrado Di Marco to understand and improve dietary factors and thus to create a unique and inimitable product.
Today, Pinsa Romana is a very popular product, thanks also to the approximately 5.000 pinsa shops both nationally and internationally. Why not add it to your menu?
